Dedicated to the memory of Doug Yates

This site is a tribute to Doug Yates, who sadly passed away on Friday 25th December 2020.

Doug was a very kind and caring man and over the last 20 years, together with the support of his beloved wife Pat, volunteered for Southern Shih Tzu Rescue.

He was a trustee for many years and during this time in office he was Chairman and fulfilled the officer roles of Home Assessment Officer and Rescue Co-ordinator.

Doug would do anything for the dogs and even though he suffered with Parkinson’s Disease, he would still jump in the car and drive long distances to get these beautiful dogs to safety. Those who knew Doug well, will remember his wonderful sense of humour....he would deliver a one liner and manage to keep a straight face. He was a true gentleman, had a heart of gold and was always very kind to others.

His funeral will be held at Garden of England Crematorium in Sittingbourne at 10am on Monday, 18th January 2021.
Due to the current government restrictions only allowing limited numbers to attend, his family have advised attendance will be by invitation only and have asked for donations to be made to Southern Shih Tzu Rescue in his memory.

He will be greatly missed by Alison and Andrew, his faithful furry companion Thomas and his friends. Doug has been reunited with his beloved wife Pat, who passed away earlier this year on 28th July.

He is much loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
